Man missing after attempt at rescuing girl at Monwabisi beach
After the 34-year-old man brought the body of the girl onto the beach, it's believed he then got into difficulties before disappearing in the water.

CAPE TOWN - A 12-year-old girl has drowned at Monwabisi Beach in Khayelitsha.
It's understood she was caught in rip currents on Saturday.
The National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) said in the same incident, a 34-year-old man disappeared in the surf zone after attempting to rescue the 12-year-old.
After he brought the body of the girl onto the beach, it's believed he then got into difficulties before disappearing in the water.
The girl was declared deceased on arrival at hospital.
The man and the girl that he had tried to rescue are not related.
NSRI spokesperson, Craig Lambinon:
"Despite an extensive sea and shoreline search there remains no signs of the missing man. Police WPDS (Water Policing and Diving Services), assisted by an EMS Metro Rescue drone Search and Rescue unit, are continuing in an ongoing search. NSRI Strandfontein, CoCT lifeguards, Monwabisi Surf lifeguards, EMS Metro Rescue and CoCT Law Enforcement are tasked to assist Police divers in the ongoing search."
