Elsies River shooting: Memorial service to be held in honour of Jahmiel van Reenen

CAPE TOWN - A memorial service to remember the life of a 14-year-old boy who was shot and killed in Elsies River in Cape Town will be held in the community on Sunday afternoon.
Unknown gunmen randomly fired at Jahmiel Grantham Van Reenen and two other teenagers while they were on their way to school on Tuesday.

A few moments before Jahmiel was shot and killed, he had waved goodbye to his father, Alrich Petrus.
His father said when the gunshots went off, he peaked through the window and saw a gunman shooting at someone who was on the ground.
At the time, Petrus was unaware that the person on the ground was his son.
"I went down to go see and I saw my child lying there. It's sad, it's very sad."
The gunmen are still at large, and a reward of R100,000 has been offered by the Cape Town municipality for information that'll help police apprehend the killers.
