More than three years after the fatal shooting on the set of ‘Rust’, the film made its quiet debut on Wednesday (20 November) at a film festival in Poland.
Cinematographer Halyna Hutchins was killed in October 2021 when Alex Baldwin’s prop gun fired live rounds of ammunition on set.
Director Joel Souza was also hit in the shoulder.
The festival’s organisers said the screening was a tribute to Hutchins who was a fan of the event.
Baldwin did not attend the premiere.
Speaking to the BBC, Souza says he contemplated not returning to the set after the incident but his mind was changed, and he decided to complete the film after speaking to Hutchins’ husband.
Manslaughter charges against the film’s star Alec Baldwin were dismissed after it was found that police and prosecutors withheld evidence.
The film’s armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter and is serving an 18-month prison sentence.
