JOHANNESBURG - Johannesburg customers using prepaid water meters in some parts of the city have three days to update their meters.
Come Sunday 24 November, the token identifiers of all standard transfer specifications for prepaid water meters will expire unless upgraded.
Areas that will be affected include Orange Farm, Cosmo City, Orlando East and West, and Diepkloof in Soweto.
The rollout for upgrading the systems from KRN one to KRN two began in July 2024.
"The current TID will run out of range after the 24th of November, which will cause the prepaid meter to stop accepting new tokens," said Joburg Water spokesperson Nombuso Tshabalala.
