CAPE TOWN - One of the four police officers arrested in connection with a multi-million rand jewellery heist, has maintained his innocence during his bail application testimony.
Bathandwa Soldati was arrested alongside his colleagues Jacobus Groenewald, Bradley Minnaar and Mthuthuzeli Mafanya in September.
They're accused of stealing R20 million worth of jewellery from a house in Llandudno on 14 September.
Constable Bathandwa Soldati was the last of the accused to give testimony on the stand during their bail applications.
So far, his version of events does not differ from his three co-accused.
Soldati claims to have gone to the house in Llandudno with his three colleagues after receiving a tip-off from two informants about two Nigerians, allegedly wanted by Interpol for cybercrimes, who were hiding at the house.
He said that when they arrived at the house, two people ran out the backdoor and disappeared.
Soldati added that the informants were not able to identify the alleged wanted criminals from the other occupants of the house who were left behind.
The hearing continues.
