CAPE TOWN - The testimony of Nicolette Kinnear, the wife of slain top cop Charl Kinnear, in the trial of alleged underworld gang boss, Nafiz Modack, was called off on Thursday.
Kinnear was set to answer questions related to various attacks on their home and her husband's murder, allegedly on behalf of Modack, in September 2020.
Modack and 14 others face 122 charges for various crimes, including the murder of Kinnear.
Nicolette Kinnear was set to testify on Thursday about her version of what transpired during a botched hand grenade attack on the Kinnear family home in 2019.
The State's evidence shows gunmen hired by two of Modack's co-accused, Amaal Jantjies and Yannick Adonis, were ready to fire at the Kinnear residence in Bishop Lavis on two occasions.
A third attempt involved a planned hand grenade attack at the family's Bishop Lavis home, which was foiled by police.
Kinnear's testimony was deemed unnecessary on Thursday after defense attorneys agreed not to contest her version of events.
The trial continues.
