Thokoza community protests against deputy principal accused of bullying now dead pupil

JOHANNESBURG - People in Thokoza have gathered outside a school to protest against the return of a deputy principal found guilty of bullying a pupil because of his sexual orientation.
The man was suspended for two months after 12-year Sibusiso Mbatha committed suicide last year following the incident.

Outside the school gates on Tuesday, there was grief and anger.
LGBTQIA+ activists and community members gathered to demand justice for Mbatha, whose life was cut short by cruelty that should never have been allowed to happen.
The group said they would not stop until action is taken against the deputy principal, who they believe should not be in a position of power.
Mbatha's family is expected to join the protest later on Tuesday morning.
