Court hears details of how hitman implicated Modack in 2 murders
A Hawks investigator has detailed how a hitman who turned State witness implicated alleged gang boss, Nafiz Modack, in two murders.
CAPE TOWN - A Hawks investigator has detailed how a hitman who turned State witness implicated alleged gang boss, Nafiz Modack, in two murders.
Modack and 14 co-accused face 122 charges for various crimes, including the murder of top cop, Charl Kinnear.
The senior Hawks officer testified on how his investigation linked Modack to two other murders, before the hit on Kinnear.
Lieutenant-Colonel Pieter Joubert said that his investigation into the murder of Nicholaas Heerschap in July 2019 led him to self-confessed hitman, "Mister A".
He said that during the interview with Mister A at Pollsmoor Prison, he confessed to murdering tow truck driver, Richard Joseph, in September 2019.
Joubert said that Mister A also told him that co-accused, Ziyaad Poole, instructed him to murder Heerschap, Joseph, defence attorney William Booth and alleged underworld figure, Andre Naude, on behalf of Modack.
Mister A admitted to killing Heerschap and Joseph but said he failed in his attempts to murder Booth and Naude.
The trial continues.
