Cape Town residents petition to save the Bellville Velodrome
Residents of Cape Town are rallying to save the Bellville Velodrome and Stadium from redevelopment.

The historic Bellville Velodrome and Stadium is facing potential redevelopment.
Residents and sporting organisations are pleading for restoration instead, highlighting the cultural significance of the venue.

Neumann says the precinct is a ‘cornerstone of the vibrant sporting and cultural identity of Cape Town and the Western Cape.’
He adds that stakeholders who use the stadium have not been consulted on the plans to develop the space.

The petition on Change.org to save the Velodrome has received over 5,000 signatures so far.
