CAPE TOWN - A senior Hawks officer has testified about how an accused in the high-profile trial involving alleged gang boss, Nafiz Modack, allegedly plotted an assassination while he was in prison.
Modack and 14 others face 122 charges for various crimes, including extortion, racketeering and murder.
Chief investigator in the case against Modack, Lieutenant-Colonel Eddie Clark testified on Monday about an attempted hit on a prominent criminal lawyer, William Booth in 2020.

Clark alleges that co-accused Toufeek Brown plotted to murder Booth while he was in prison.
It's the State's case that Modack was allegedly trying to extort money from one of Booth's client, a Cape Town businessman.
But when Booth halted the extortion via the courts, Modack became angry and allegedly roped in Brown to take him out.
Clark's evidence showed that Brown was in communication with two of the co-accused and another who is serving a sentence after pleading guilty before and after the hit of Booth.
The trial continues.
