CAPE TOWN - A man accused of making bomb threats in Bellville has been remanded in custody.

Forty-nine-year-old Ferdinand Fortuin is back in court next Monday for a bail application.

He was apprehended in Mamre last week after he allegedly made phone calls to the Bellville Police Station warning of explosive devices at the Department of Water and Sanitation in Bellville, the Transnet Building in Bellville South and the Bellville Taxi Rank.

The same threat was made in a call to the Road Traffic Emergency toll-free number on the same day.

Hawks investigators said a probe revealed the cellphone number used to make the calls was later linked to a different handset.
