DURBAN - KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi said that the rampant involvement of young people in serious crime north of Durban was concerning.
This after six suspects linked a string of crimes in the area appeared in court on Monday on allegations, including terrorising the community.
Two months ago video footage of the group randomly firing shots in the air went viral on social media.
Mkhwanazi said that it was becoming a concerning trend for young people to be involved in crime.
"What we’ve been seeing is that there is a trend that an average criminal that you are dealing with is 20 years old, that’s an average. They're always below 30 if you find one or two. In this group, the eldest is 24 years old. Their master, their boss is 20 years old."
