JOHANNESBURG - The Gauteng Department of Health says it's hoping that water restrictions in Johannesburg will not be prolonged.
The department said if this happens, health facilities in the province would face unnecessary strain.
Water supply cuts are set to begin on Thursday evening, from 9pm to 4am, indefinitely.

This forms part of efforts by the Water and Sanitation Department to allow Gauteng reservoirs to recover.
Key institutions, including hospitals, schools, and clinics, will not be exempt from the water interruptions, raising concerns over service disruptions.
"Where it becomes a challenge is if the supply interruption becomes prolonged, of course that will impact on us, because we rely on stable water supply. As and when there are challenges, the municipalities are also able to continue supplying our facilities using water tankers to bring into the facility," said Gauteng Health Department spokesperson, Motalatale Modiba.
