Investigation under way after 20 pupils from same Cape Town school fell ill

CAPE TOWN - The circumstances around 20 pupils from the same school in Cape Town falling ill at the same time is still a mystery.
Exactly a week ago, the pupils were rushed to Khayelitsha District Hospital after complaining of stomach cramps.
The Western Cape Department of Health said the pupils were checked by doctors at the Khayelitsha hospital.
The provincial health department said the learners were observed for six hours before being discharged from the hospital the same day.
"Western Cape government health and wellness can confirm that Khayelitsha District Hospital attended to 20 learners who were brought to the emergency centre after reportedly experiencing stomach cramps.
"The learners were thoroughly assessed by our medical team and found to be stable, and asymptomatic, at the time of examination."
Eyewitness News is yet to receive answers from the City of Cape Town's Environmental Health Department on its investigation into the matter.
