CAPE TOWN - Medical issues related to a State witness and an accused in the high-profile trial of alleged underworld figure, Jerome 'Donkie' Booysen, delayed court proceedings again on Tuesday.
Booysen and 12 others face various charges related to the murder of illegal steroid dealer, Brian Wainstein, in 2017.
Alleged underworld figure, Andre Naude, who along with Booysen is accused of plotting Wainstein's murder, was not in court for a second day on Tuesday.
Naude's lawyer, Advocate Amanda Nel, handed the court a medical certificate saying that due to ill health, her client was not fit to appear in court on Tuesday.
Nel requested the name of the hospital not be mentioned in media reports due to concerns for Naude's safety.
Last week, after the murder of accused number one in the matter, Mark Lifman, Naude told EWN there had been an attempt on his life too.
The State also told the court its main witness was currently being examined by a psychologist to determine whether he was fit to continue giving evidence in court.
The matter has been postponed to Monday next week.
