JOHANNESBURG - The transport ministry has vowed to assist the taxi industry to make public transportation friendly for disabled passengers.
This comes after some disabled people raised concerns over public transportation at the Presidential Imbizo, in the south of Durban on Friday.
They said that while buses do cater for people living with disabilities, they would also want to see the same when it comes to taxis.
Responding to their concerns Transport Minister Barbara Creecy said, "We also proposing to the National Association of People Living with Disabilities that we form a joint task team with Santaco and the NTA so that we promote the rights of disabled people within the taxi industry and try and ensure that there is a better approach towards disabled people."
