JOHANNESBURG - The Gauteng Education Department and health officials in the province are working together to probe the cause of a foodborne illness at a school in Tsakane.
On Friday 21 learners from Vuyani Primary School complained of stomach cramps shortly after their break, leading to their hospitalisation at different healthcare facilities.
They were discharged on the same day but officials say they don't know what caused the symptoms.
Department Spokesperson Steve Mabona said, "We can confirm that all affected learners were discharged later in the afternoon after being treated, and are all in good health. The department is working closely with health officials to investigate the cause of this incident and ensure the well-being of learners."
