JOHANNESBURG - Water levels remain critically low across Tshwane reservoirs, with some completely dry, following a power trip at a Rand Water pump station.

On Wednesday, the Palmiet booster pump station experienced a power outage, leaving hundreds of households without water.

In response, Rand Water opened additional valves at the Hartebeesthoek reservoir, aiming to increase levels to 40%, a threshold that would allow water delivery to Soshanguve, Mabopane, and Kruisfontein Reservoirs.

Low-lying parts of Atteridgeville are seeing some water flow, but residents are urged to conserve it to support system recovery.

"The city is once more urging customers to exercise patience during this difficult period as the network takes time to fully recover. Residents will be kept updated as and when there are new developments. The city apologises for the inconvenience caused by this unplanned water supply interruption," said city spokesperson, Selby Bokaba.
