Unveiling of new King Shaka statue in KZN a strategic move for tourism - Creecy
The Transport Ministry has praised the unveiling of the King Shaka statue at the airport in Durban, saying it will serve as an important reminder of the country’s history.

DURBAN - The Transport Ministry has praised the unveiling of the King Shaka statue at the airport in Durban, saying it will serve as an important reminder of the country’s history.
Visitors and holidaymakers will now be welcomed by a statue of the late Zulu King at the airport.

The statue of the late Zulu monarch carrying a spear and shield stands just outside the terminals.
Transport Minister Barbara Creecy said this was a strategic move for tourism.
"This airport and its surrounding infrastructure play a key role in connecting eThekwini, KwaZulu-Natal and South Africa with the global community. It also serves in welcoming visitors to experience the natural beauty of KwaZulu-Natal and enjoy the deep hospitality of its people."
