CAPE TOWN - Western Cape Community Safety MEC, Anroux Marais, has cautioned the public against taking the law into their own hands.
This follows an apparent vigilante killing on Monday, involving three men outside Wallacedene in Kraaifontein.
Marais said despite how frustrated and angry residents were about the unacceptably high levels of crime in many communities, vigilantism must never be condoned.
Meanwhile, police detectives are pursuing leads to determine the circumstances of the murder, and are asking the public to come forward with information.
The police's Andre Traut: "The bodies of the victims were discovered at around 08:30 at a dam on a farm in Botfontein Road, with fatal injuries reminiscent of an act of vigilantism. Any person who can shed light on the matter is kindly requested to contact Crime Stop on 08600 10111 or by using the mobile application My SAPS anonymously."
