Nafiz Modack trial: Jeremy Vearey cross-examined about alleged bribery, raids
The alleged underworld boss Modack claims he bribed Vearey and murdered detective Charl Kinnear to return six firearms confiscated from his home during a raid in 2017.

CAPE TOWN - Retired top cop Jeremy Vearey says he played no part in various raids at alleged underworld gang boss Nafiz Modack's home.
Modack and 14 co-accused face 122 charges for various crimes, including the murder of anti-gang unit detective Charl Kinnear.
Vearey was cross-examined on Monday about allegedly taking R3 million in bribes from Modack.

Vearey denied receiving any payments from Modack, and police evidence showed the guns were never returned to Modack.
Modack’s lawyer, Advocate Bashier Sibda, presented the court with video footage of various raids at Modack's home between 2017 and 2020.
Modack claimed that during one of the raids, his wife was wrongfully arrested, and one of his dogs was shot dead.
However, Vearey denied being involved in the raids, stating they were not conducted under his command.
The trial continues.
