CAPE TOWN - The Congress of Traditional Leaders of South Africa (CONTRALESA) said the murder of Nogcinile Mtirara at Mqhekezweni Great Place in Mthatha has destabilised the community.

Mtirara, from the royal house of AmaDlomo and the AbaThembu kingdom, was shot and killed on Tuesday, along with her neighbour and friend.

Six matric girls were also robbed and raped on the same day in the area.

Bityi has been in the spotlight for mass murders after five family members were shot and killed in October.

The Eastern Cape's Department of Community Safety spokesperson, Makaya Komisa, said police were hard at work to find the perpetrators who murdered the two women and raped the six matric girls.

"We are making a clarion call on all people to collaborate with police to eradicate crime ravaging communities."
