JOHANNESBURG - The family of nine-year-old Gomolemo Mavimbela has said that it's devastated by the release on bail of her alleged killer, leaving them to cope with her tragic passing.
On Friday, Sekhukhune United footballer Shaune Mogaila appeared before the Tembisa Magistrates Court facing charges of culpable homicide, reckless and negligent driving, and fleeing the scene of a crime.
These charges relate to his alleged involvement in a hit-and-run incident that resulted in Mavimbela's death and injuries to her mother, Keo, and a 13-year-old neighbour.

Mogaila was granted bail of R20,000 and is scheduled to return to court next February.
There was a deep sense of sadness in the courtroom as the bail decision was announced.
And the move by the State not to oppose bail has deepened the family's sense of injustice.
Patrick Kekana, the victim's uncle, expressed the family's dissatisfaction with the proceedings.
"I am not happy at all about what transpired. I trust that the law will take its course," said Kekana.
It remains uncertain whether Mogaila will continue his soccer career following these developments.
