Artists and music lovers gear up for 30th SAMAs

JOHANNESBURG - The biggest night in music is finally here, as the 30th annual South African Music Awards takes place on Saturday.

Artists and music lovers alike will gather in Midrand at the Gallagher estate for the star-studded event.

This year, the award show is celebrating 30 years of its iconic role in Mzansi’s music landscape.

The South African Music Awards have cemented its place in the entertainment space for an impressive 30 years.

And in honour of the milestone, the award ceremony will highlight South Africa’s exceptional talent by focusing on artistry and creativity.

On the music front, the country’s biggest cultural export, ampaniano, has received numerous nominations, with the fiercest competition being in the male artist of the year category.

Multi-award-winning music sensation, Tyla, leads the pack with five nominations followed by Kabza de Small and Mbuso Khoza with three nominations each.

It won’t only be about music though as some of the country’s biggest stars will grace the red carpet showing off their best creative interpretation of "proudly South African chic".

It will be lights, camera, action at 8pm on SABC 1 and alternatively, viewers can stream the show live on YouTube.
