JOHANNESBURG - The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) is yet to make a decision on whether to enrol the matter against a footballer who was involved in a deadly crash that claimed the life of a nine-year-old in Tembisa.
The Sekhukhune United FC player failed to appear in court as expected on Thursday because the docket for his case had not been handed over to the NPA.
According to police, the little girl was travelling with her mother and a 13-year-old neighbour when the player rammed into them on Andrew Mapheto Drive.
The player remains in custody after he handed himself over to police on Wednesday.
"The docket was received on 31 October 2024 but unfortunately it was not court ready and as the NPA we gave further instructions that SAPS [South African Police Service] must comply with and then return to docket to us for a decision," said NPA spokesperson, Phindi Mjonondwane.
