JOHANNESBURG - Lawyers representing victims of a listeriosis outbreak say a legal battle against Tiger Brands is still making its way to court to determine the company's liability.
Tiger Brands is facing a class action lawsuit following the outbreak in 2017 when more than 200 people died.
The health ministry at the time traced the outbreak back to the company's factory in Polokwane.

This week, Tiger Brands proposed interim assistance for some victims.
But attorney Richard Spoor, who represents some victims of the outbreak, said establishing the company's liability is only one part.
"The second part is who are the individuals who got sick and what are the damages that they are entitled to cover. We are still in the first phase and it looks like we will likely be in court to get a ruling within the next year," said Spoor.
