JOHANNESBURG - The family of nine-year-old Gomolemo Mavimbela, who tragically lost her life in a hit-and-run involving a Sekhukhune United football player, believes there is substantial evidence to secure a conviction.
On Wednesday, Gomolemo was travelling with her mother, Keo Mavimbela, and a 13-year-old neighbour when their vehicle was struck by the player’s luxury car.
Gomolemo died at the scene, while her mother and neighbour were rushed to a nearby hospital where they are still in ICU.

The Premier Soccer League (PSL) player was scheduled to make his first court appearance on Thursday at the Tembisa Magistrates Court - on charges of culpable homicide, reckless and negligent driving, and fleeing the crime scene.
However, the National Prosecuting Authority requested a postponement of proceedings, with concerns over an inadequately prepared police docket.
The girl’s uncle, Sifiso Skhosana, says a video circulating on social media - allegedly depicting the incident - adds to the mounting evidence supporting the family’s case.
“There’s a video, maybe that thing will assist us in court and everywhere else.”
The footballer’s defence team has indicated it will oppose the media’s application to broadcast the court proceedings.
