JOHANNESBURG - A law firm appointed to investigate sexual misconduct allegations against a top Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) cop will present the outcomes of its probe to council on Thursday.
EMPD chief of police, Isaac Mapiyeye, was suspended in September after a woman constable laid sexual harassment charges against him.
Eyewitness News understands that SGV Attorneys was given 30 days to investigate.
Mapiyeye will find out whether he will keep his position or have his contract terminated, just two years before it comes to an end.
The council has assigned city manager, Imogen Mashazi, to lead the investigation into the EMPD top cop and report back to the officials on her findings.
Mapiyeye is not the only EMPD official in hot water.
His deputy, Julius Mkhwanazi, is accused of unlawfully distributing blue lights to his friends and entering questionable deals on behalf of the city.
The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) has recommended that Mkhwanazi face charges for allowing third parties to impersonate police officers.
Mkhwanazi has been acting as EMPD chief of police since his superior was suspended due to sexual harassment allegations.
