Firefighters contain blaze at Braamfontein's Metro Centre

JOHANNESBURG - Joburg Emergency Management Services (EMS) is on the scene of a fire at the metro centre in Braamfontein on Thursday afternoon.
Joburg EMS spokesperson Robert Mulaudzi says the fire has been contained, however, the cause is unknown.
Mulaudzi says the fire started in the storage area of the building with no injuries reported.
“Right now, the fire has been contained,” he said adding that authorities would get to the bottom of the cause.
Speaking on the 702 Drive with John Perlman, Mulaudzi said: “We are extinguishing the hotspots since the area has been used as a storage area,” he said.
Furniture is stored in the area of the building, he added.
“There is not really much damage to the building,” he said, adding that the furniture suffered damages.
