CAPE TOWN - The Democratic Alliance (DA) has celebrated the tabling of the Medium-Term Budget Policy (MTBPS) as a win for the party and its policies.
On Thursday, the party’s members of Parliament (MPs) reflected on the first Government of National Unity (GNU) budget that Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana delivered in Parliament on Wednesday.
The MPs say the DA made a lot of inputs in the spending priorities in the adjustment budget.

The DA spokesperson, Willie Aucamp, says the party gave Godongwana a rare standing ovation for a reason.
"And the first people to give him a standing ovation was the DA because of the amount of DA policies that we saw that were implemented and incorporated into his speech."
The party’s Luyolo Mphithi says not bailing out state-owned enterprises (SOEs) and scrapping e-tolls are examples of DA contributions.
"This marks the first the DA has shaped the national budget priorities as part of the national government."
The party says the MTBPS is a budget for the people aimed at improving lives.
