TSHWANE - The African National Congress (ANC)-led coalition government in Tshwane is expected to remove the last remaining executive member from the previous Democratic Alliance (DA) administration on Thursday.
The Tshwane council will vote on a motion of no confidence against the House’s chief whip, Christo van den Heever.
Van den Heever is a DA councillor who has been the capital’s chief whip since 2021.

At this stage, it is still unclear which party the chief whip position will go to between the ANC, ActionSA, and the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF).
The governing coalition in Tshwane said it wanted total control of the executive to be able to affect its agenda.
Despite that, Tshwane Mayor Nasiphi Moya said her administration wanted to work with all represented parties in council.
"Ours is to work with all political parties because that’s the only way we can ensure we reach all constituencies in the City of Tshwane."
With the ANC, EFF, and ActionSA accounting for more than 60% of the Tshwane council, the motion against the chief whip is expected to pass.
