JOHANNESBURG - Parts of the City of Tshwane metro will again be without power due to emergency repairs at a substation.
In recent months, the capital has experienced several power outages owing to increased demand, cable theft and ailing infrastructure - resulting in heightened maintenance needs.
On Thursday, the power supply will be cut off at the Heatherly substation in Mamelodi East, leaving areas such as The Blydes, Savannah Estate, and Nellmapius extensions 7 and 8 without electricity from 9am to 5pm.
City spokesperson, Lindela Mashigo: “This unavoidable exercise is necessitated by the need to conduct emergency repairs following incidents of theft and vandalism at the substation, which resulted in malfunctioning electrical equipment.
“This planned outage will last for eight hours, and the city apologises for any inconvenience arising from this inevitable interruption to power supply.”
