Botched hijacking leads to killing of alleged Mongrels gang member

CAPE TOWN - An attempted hijacking in Lotus River has led to the killing of an alleged Mongrels gang member.
The city's Safety and Security Directorate believes the deceased tried to hijack someone's car on Sunday evening.
However, shots were fired by the alleged hijacker and the owner of the car retaliated and killed his attacker.
The city's Safety and Security Directorate says the hijacking, which didn’t go as planned, soon turned into a gun battle between alleged gangsters and the vehicle’s owner.
Law enforcement agencies responded to the scene where they were also met with gunfire that lasted several minutes until backup arrived.
With more police officers on the scene - the alleged gang members were outnumbered and fled in different directions.
However, police managed to arrest one of them, who will appear in court soon.
