Bafana's Ronwen Williams cracks top 10 list for goalkeepers

CAPE TOWN - Bafana Bafana shot-stopper Ronwen Williams was named as one of the world's top 10 goalkeepers on Monday night.
Williams came in at number nine in the rankings for the Yachine Trophy, which were announced at the Ballon d'Or Awards evening in Paris on Monday. Manchester City midfielder Rodri was the recipient of the 2024 Ballon d'Or award.
The Bafana Bafana goalkeeper was the only African on the list.
Williams saved four penalties in the Africa Cup of Nations quarter-final match against Cape Verde earlier in 2024, sending Bafana Bafana through to the semifinals. He was named goalkeeper of the tournament.
Argentina World Cup-winner, Emiliano Martinez, won the Yachine Trophy, with Unai Simon the runner-up and Andriy Lunin ranked third.
