Whether you’re looking for a good tech deal, a discount on experiences or are hoping to tick some Christmas presents off your list, Black Friday has it all.
New research from the Bureau of Market Research (BER) for fintech Capital Connect shows consumers seem more interested in this year’s annual sales than in the past three years.
They expect the shopping day to add R88 billion to the economy.

When is it?
Mark your calendars, this year Black Friday takes place on 29 November 2024.
However, sales often run through until Cyber Monday.
Where is it?
EVERYWHERE. Dozens of retailers will be running specials both in-store and online.
What sells the most?
Electricals, clothing, beauty, and toys sell the most during Black Friday sales.
Black Friday shopping tips:
- Use social media and the internet to flag deals in advance.
- Research the item you want to buy and compare prices of several retailers before and on Black Friday.
- Set up online accounts in advance. This will allow you to pre-save your details and speed run your checkout process.
- Triple-check that the websites you are shopping on are legit. You may be shopping for deals but scammers are shopping for victims.
