CAPE TOWN - The City of Cape Town (CoCT) has been lobbying for the national government to take action on the site for some time.
The city has been assisting the process by offering alternative accommodation at the Safe Spaces, but this has been largely refused
This is after the Western Cape High Court granted the Public Works and Infrastructure Department an eviction order in September.
Homeless individuals living outside the Castle of Good Hope were given until 17 October to vacate the area.
The metro said it was in the process of consulting those affected and aimed to place them in transitional shelters, where possible.
While no new official date has been set for the evictions, the city said that after exhausting all available avenues to assist, occupants would be asked to leave with their belongings.
Previous attempts by the City of Cape Town to evict the dwellers have failed, due to the property owned by the Public Works Department.
