JOHANNESBURG - The community of Orange Farm, south of Johannesburg, will be given an opportunity to voice their frustrations about crime in the area.
This comes after seven people were shot and killed in the township recently by a local tavern owner.
The incident took place after the business owner was caught in an altercation with a patron.
Members of the Gauteng Provincial Legislature’s Community Safety Committee are visiting the township on Tuesday.
They will conduct an oversight visit at the Orange Farm police station.
Committee chairperson Bandile Masuku said they want to engage police officers on strategies to prevent such incidents in the future.
"The committee will also meet with the local stakeholders, including ward councillors and the community police forum, and gather information to address any concerns regarding the incidents."
