CAPE TOWN - Gift of the Givers is responding to flood victims in Gqeberha and Kariega in the Eastern Cape.
This follows a number of warnings by the weather office regarding severe thunderstorms and disruptive rain.
Forecasters predicted the unfavourable weather would affect KwaZulu-Natal, Gauteng, Mpumalanga, and Eastern Cape, among other regions.
The humanitarian aid organisation's Imtiaz Sooliman said that several areas were being evacuated.
"The overnight flooding in Nelson Mandela Bay Metro and Kariega is reminiscent of the floods of June, this year. Disaster management, who we have been in touch with since Sunday night and including with the municipal manager, Mandla George, called at 3:30 this morning [Tuesday], asking for vehicles to move communities to safer zones. Gift of the Givers is looking at providing buses and taxis to make that a reality."
