KZN disaster management on alert to assist schools in case of weather-related disruptions

DURBAN - KwaZulu-Natal disaster management teams are on high alert to assist schools in case of weather-related disruptions.
On Monday, matrics in the province write the first paper for the National Senior Certificate final exams amid severe weather warnings.
The weather service has issued a level six alert for disruptive rains expected to persist until Tuesday.
Matric candidates at the Isolemamba High School in Folweni started their day with a prayer session minutes before writing their first final paper.
KwaZulu-Natal Premier Thamsanqa Ntuli, who is also a former teacher, wished them well.
He encouraged the class of 2024 not be give in to distractions and to remain focused on the exams.
Disaster relief teams are also on standby as heavy rains make landfall in the province.
"The disaster management teams from COGTA are all ready, all departments that have a role to play around the examinations have been activated."
No incidents have yet been reported.
