From 170kg's to running his first Sanlam Cape Town Marathon - here's how it started...

Kfm 94.5 technical producer Rameez Khan used to weigh 170 kilograms. Now he is running his first Sanlam Cape Town Marathon this weekend and explains his fitness journey.
Rameez describes how it all started... short answer: a divorce got his legs running to a healthier version of himself both physically and mentally.

Of course, it wasn't easy to get started. After his first race from Muizenberg Civic Centre to St James and back, an out-of-breath Rameez thought running wasn't for him and was ready to call it quits. 'I cannot do this,' he recalls saying to himself... and look at him now, ready to run a 42 km marathon.
But Rameez says some of the best advice he received was to just 'keep showing up' to training.
This very small piece of advice from his running coach was a lesson for Rameez to not only keep showing up for training but to keep showing up for himself... and he did.
Rameez also explains the importance of constructive criticism from people who are genuinely concerned about you. He highlights the value in just starting off small if you've got a huge goal. He says it is vital to have a supportive partner who inspires you to go further and increase the kilometres towards health and wellness in the journey of life... click below to watch:
