PRETORIA - The Pretoria High Court has heard that a trio - including the alleged gunman who killed Senzo Meyiwa, Kelly Khumalo, and Longwe Twala - had the same picture of money in a bag, saved on their phones.
The lead investigating officer in the case, Brigadier Bongani Gininda has been testifying on Friday, connecting the dots in the State's investigation.
Gininda has detailed how police ended up with the first two accused on their radar.
In the early stages of the trial, the court heard testimony from the police’s cellphone analyst, Sergeant Moses Mabasa that Mthobisi Mncube, the alleged gunman who claimed Meyiwa's life and Khumalo had the same photograph of R100 and R200 notes in a see-through money bag.

Mabasa said on Mncube's cellphone downloads, the money had been saved as "impande yesono", which means the root of all evil.
Gininda said the same picture was also found elsewhere.
"It was also found in the downloads of Mr Longwe Twala," he said.

Gininda did not explain any further what this link means.
The State believes Khumalo is the mastermind behind Meyiwa's murder and had contracted the five men accused, to carry out the hit.
On Thursday, Gininda detailed how he ruled out Twala as the gunman.
