JOHANNESBURG - Tito Mboweni's family said the former finance minister stood for what he believed in and was not easily swayed.

The former South African Reserve Bank (SARB) governor died last week Saturday after a short illness.

Relative, Manias Mboweni, honoured him at a memorial service in Tzaneen on Thursday night.

"Some of you may have seen that we are not very easily influenced, we are not very easily intimidated – that is what he was. Those of you who knew him, know that if you raise an issue to discuss, you must be ready to win the case, but you’ll never win. You could never win against him."
