CAPE TOWN - Seven pupils at Bishops Diocesan College are facing a disciplinary hearing after a late-night assault at one of the school's boarding houses.
One of the boys has since been discharged from hospital after being injured during the incident.
The school said the boys are charged with breaching the school's code of conduct and anti-bullying policy.
School principal Anthony Reeler condemned the perpetrators, saying any form of bullying or violence has no place at the school.
Reeler said an independent advocate chairing the disciplinary process has recommended the strongest possible sanction against those found guilty.
The principal said the school has a zero-tolerance stance towards bullying and would now be introducing additional security measures at its boarding houses.
Reeler said support has been offered to pupils in the boarding house, the pupil who was injured, as well as his family.
