CAPE TOWN - A 17-year-old boy linked to the murder of 16-year-old Deveney Nel is expected back at the Caledon Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

In September, the matter was postponed for further investigations.

The boy is accused of stabbing the teenage girl two months ago. Nel's body was found locked in a storeroom at Overberg High School during a sports day event.

Wednesday marks exactly two months since the murder of Deveney Nel shocked the small community of Caledon in the Overberg region.

It is understood that the teenagers were friends before the incident happened and attended the same school.

The teenager, who cannot be named because he is underage, is not seeking bail at the moment and is being kept in a place of safety.

Civil society organisations have also submitted a memorandum to the court, motivating for bail to be opposed should he decide to make an application.
