JOHANNESBURG - The African National Congress (ANC) said that the South African Communist Party (SACP)'s actions of "talking through the press" don't help with the deteriorating relationship of the alliance.
The SACP boycotted the ANC's event on Monday marking 100 days of the Government of National Unity in office.
The SACP's central committee has adopted a motion to oppose the GNU on the grounds that the ANC had capitulated to its neo-liberal forces.
ANC Secretary-General Fikile Mbalula said that the SACP also snubbed the party for bilateral talks that were supposed to take place on Monday.
"It doesn't help to talk to your allies through the press. So, if I can't respond to Solly [Mapaila, secretary-general of the SACP] in many ways and rebut what he is talking about but it doesn't help the alliance, it doesn’t help the Communist Party, it doesn't help the ANC that we talk past each other, so let's get down to business, let's talk about this moment and the characterisation [of it]."
