EFF in Gauteng doesn't want to work with DA in Ekurhuleni's multi-party coalition govt

JOHANNESBURG – The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) in Gauteng says it is highly opposed to the Democratic Alliance (DA) being incorporated into Ekurhuleni’s multi-party coalition government.
This is on the back of the African National Congress (ANC)’s intention to reconfigure the executive in the metro to divide powers proportionally.
It is, however, understood some in the ANC are pushing for the DA to be included in the ANC-EFF coalition government in the city.
In March of last year, the ANC and EFF united to oust the DA's Tania Campbell from the mayoral office in Ekurhuleni.
However, some within the ANC are now considering co-governing with the DA and plan to propose this to the party's national leadership.
The EFF’s provincial chairperson - Nkuleleko Dunga - has described this as a deal breaker, firmly stating the party's opposition to the DA's inclusion.
“The very same politically bankrupt ANC now wants to tell us the Democratic Alliance must be incorporated into a government where we said ourselves that they were extremely racist in their approach. When was this Democratic Alliance rehabilitated from their racist views in terms of service delivery orientation?”
The ANC in Ekurhuleni is scheduled to meet with its provincial leadership to propose a reconfiguration of the municipal government.
