DA wants Batohi to provide rationale for non-prosecution in Ramaphosa’s Phala Phala matter
The DA said it will ask NPA head Shamila Batohi to review the decision of the Limpopo Director of Public Prosecutions.

CAPE TOWN - Pressure is mounting on the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) to explain a decision not to prosecute any crime connected to thousands of United States (US) dollars stored on President Cyril Ramaphosa’s Phala Phala farm.
The Democratic Alliance (DA) said it would ask the NPA's head - Shamila Batohi - to review the Limpopo Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP)'s decision.

Meanwhile, the uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party has hinted that it wants to launch a private prosecution.
The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF)’s Constitutional Court case, related to Parliament rejecting a Section 89 panel report which suggested an inquiry into the matter, is set to be heard on 26 November.
DA member of Parliament (MP) Glynnis Breytenbach said Batohi must explain the rationale not to prosecute in this matter to Parliament’s justice committee.
“Despite evidence like CCTV footage and mobile phone records, the DPP in Limpopo claims there’s no reasonable prospect of a successful prosecution. The NPA owes the public a full explanation and Advocate Batohi has a constitutional duty to ensure that the rule of law is upheld in this critical matter.”
