DURBAN - Seven people have died, while nine others sustained injuries after a truck ploughed into two minibus taxis in Eastern Cape.
The accident took place on the N2 highway between Mthatha and Mtentu on Saturday morning.
The Department of Transport in the province said it was very misty when the vehicles collided.
Spokesperson Makhaya Komisa said, "Transport and Community Safety MEC Xolile Nqatha has conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families of the deceased and wished the injured passengers a speedy recovery."
Komisa said the department is urging motorists to be cautious on the roads.
"The MEC calls on motorists to adhere to the rules of the road and reduce speed."
The accident came after eight people died in a car-related accident, also on the N2 highway in Mandeni, northern KwaZulu-Natal, on Friday.
