CAPE TOWN - A State witness in the trial against alleged underworld figures Mark Lifman, Jerome ‘Donkie’ Booysen and their 11 co-accused for the murder of ‘steroid king’ Brian Wainstein continued with his testimony on Wednesday.
Lifman, Booysen and their co-accused face 36 charges for various crimes, including the murder of Wainstein, who was gunned down in his Constantia home in August 2017.
The witness, who can only be identified as Mister X, said he was present when Booysen and Lifman allegedly plotted to murder Wainstein.
Mister X admitted to being involved in Wainstein's murder, before taking over the deceased’s illegal steroid business and paying portions of the proceeds to Booysen and Lifman.
Cellphone evidence presented in court on Wednesday showed Mister X was also allegedly in communication with criminal intelligence police officers.
When questioned about the nature of those relationships, Mister X told the court he was sharing information about the steroids operation, and how alleged 28s gang boss, Ralph Stanfield was also involved.
Mister X said he received R120,000 for the information he shared.
