JOHANNESBURG - ActionSA says it needs space to decide whether it wants to join the African National Congress (ANC)'s Government of National Unity (GNU).
ActionSA is currently not part of the GNU, however, the party has recently struck up a relationship in Gauteng.
The two parties held a joint media briefing in Tshwane on Wednesday, where they presented ActionSA councillor, Dr Nasiphi Moya, as their candidate to fill the mayoral vacancy in the metro.
For a long time, they have been political foes, however, ActionSA and the ANC now have a working relationship in the Gauteng legislature, Johannesburg and Tshwane municipalities.
It's widely expected this relationship will also extend to the Ekurhuleni metro.
Despite that, ActionSA president, Herman Mashaba, said that there was no rush to join the GNU.
"You know the success of negotiations of this nature will really require that we be given space. I would really request that you give us space, let us deliver Tshwane and ensure the residents of Tshwane get the services they deserve."
Mashaba said that the relationship with the ANC had been going well so far.
